Database Administrator

Database Operations Engineer.

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Operations Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise database environments across cloud and on-premises platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in database administration, automation, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The role requires close collaboration with Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable database operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, AWS RDS, and Amazon Aurora.
• Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity.
• Perform database performance tuning and query optimization.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
• Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
• Execute database patching, upgrades, migrations, and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Manage database deployments through CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure database compliance and governance requirements are met.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, standards, and runbooks.
• Support cloud-native and modern database architectures.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in Database Administration or Database Operations.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • PostgreSQL
  • MySQL
  • SQL Server
  • Oracle Database
  • AWS RDS
  • Amazon Aurora
• Expertise in:
  • Database Performance Tuning
  • Backup & Recovery
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery
  • Capacity Planning
  • Database Security
• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools:
  • Terraform
  • AWS CloudFormation
  • AWS CDK
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Delphix, Flyway, or Liquibase.
• Exposure to DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
• Experience with Datadog and AWS CloudWatch.
• Knowledge of containerized and cloud-native environments.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Experience in process automation and AI-driven operational tooling.
• AWS Certification preferred.
