Database & Cloud Engineer (contractor)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Database & Cloud Engineer to support enterprise customers in Hong Kong across database support, implementation and migration projects.

Oracle Database 19c and Exadata are key technologies for this role. We are open to experienced Oracle DBAs as well as engineers with strong non-Oracle database experience who are interested in developing their Oracle expertise.

The role also offers opportunities to work on cloud, AI, database migration and other emerging technology projects, depending on customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on database support for enterprise customers in Hong Kong.
• Support and troubleshoot Oracle Database 19c and Exadata environments.
• Investigate database-related technical issues, including those involving Linux and underlying hardware infrastructure.
• Support database implementation and migration projects.
• Contribute to cloud, AI and non-Oracle database projects according to customer needs.
• Work directly with customers and relevant technical teams to investigate and resolve issues.
• Develop expertise in new technologies and apply it to customer projects.

Experience and Requirements

• Around seven or more years of hands-on database support or related experience. Candidates with fewer years of relevant experience may also be considered.
• Strong database technical knowledge and hands-on troubleshooting experience.
• Good Linux and hardware technical knowledge.
• Experience in one of the following areas:
• Oracle DBA: Hands-on Oracle Database 19c experience and good knowledge of Exadata.
• Non-Oracle / Multi-database Engineer: Strong implementation, migration or support experience with non-Oracle databases, with the ability and interest to develop Oracle Database 19c and Exadata expertise.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work directly with customers and technical teams.

Advantageous Experience

Experience in any of the following would be an advantage, but is not essential:

• Cloud implementation, migration or support.
• Database or data migration.
• Non-Oracle database implementation, migration or support.
• AI-related implementation or support.
