Database & Migration Engineer

Role summary

You own the data. You build the SQL Server environment in Azure, move the production database with log shipping and reconciliation, and prepare the application servers for the application vendor's install. Your work is the critical path on cutover night.

Key responsibilities

• Build and tune SQL Server on Azure VMs per the capacity plan
• Plan and run the data migration: initial seed, log shipping, validation and reconciliation
• Run the migration rehearsal and prepare the rollback path
• Prepare application servers in the private subnet and support the application vendor's install and validation
• Carry out the database and application steps on the cutover night
• Run database restore checks as part of backup testing
• Contribute to testing, hypercare and knowledge transfer

Configured SQL Server environment · data migration plan · data reconciliation report · application installation and validation record

Must-have

• 5+ years as a SQL Server DBA, including 3+ years on migrations to Azure or other cloud
• Hands-on with log shipping, backup/restore, and large-database seeding (including bandwidth-limited links)
• SQL Server performance tuning, storage layout on Azure VMs, and HA/DR concepts
• Rigorous data validation and reconciliation habits (row counts, checksums, application-level checks)
• Comfort working alongside a software vendor's installers without owning their application
• PowerShell or T-SQL automation skills

Good to have

• Experience with healthcare databases (HIS, RIS/PACS) and patient-data sensitivity
• Azure Database Migration tooling, Always On Availability Groups
• Experience with cutover planning for 24x7 clinical systems

What independence looks like

You can own the migration plan from seed to final sync, run the rehearsal, and tell the team with evidence whether the data is ready for go-live.

Pay: From ₹371,000.00 per year
