About the role

We are seeking a Database Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join STRATEGICSYNERGY, INC. in Makati City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in our organisation's data management strategy and technical infrastructure.

As a Database SME, you will serve as our go-to expert for all database-related matters, providing strategic guidance, technical leadership, and hands-on support across our technology operations. This role is integral to ensuring our database systems remain optimised, secure, and aligned with business objectives. You will be responsible for maintaining our database architecture, mentoring team members, and driving continuous improvement across our data management practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust database solutions that support business requirements and scalability needs
• Provide expert technical guidance on database architecture, performance tuning, and optimisation strategies
• Manage database administration tasks including backup, recovery, security, and access control
• Monitor database performance and identify areas for improvement, implementing solutions to enhance efficiency
• Conduct comprehensive database assessments and recommend best practices for data governance and compliance
• Develop and document database standards, procedures, and guidelines for the organisation
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide timely resolutions to minimise downtime
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure databases align with application requirements
• Mentor junior database administrators and technical staff, sharing expertise and fostering professional development
• Stay abreast of emerging database technologies and industry trends, evaluating their applicability to our operations

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years of professional experience in database development, administration, or related roles
• Advanced expertise in major relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
• Strong knowledge of database design principles, normalisation, and data modelling
• Proven experience with performance tuning, query optimisation, and database maintenance
• Solid understanding of database security, backup and recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning
• Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions
• Proficiency in SQL scripting and experience with stored procedures, triggers, and complex queries
• Knowledge of cloud-based database platforms such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues
• Strong communication abilities, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Relevant industry certifications (such as Oracle Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, or equivalent) are highly desirable
• Experience with database monitoring and management tools is preferred
