What they need

About us
Child Cancer Foundation is a New Zealand charity that provides support to children and families on their cancer journey.  We support them every step of the way, helping them overcome challenges and maintain control of their lives. We focus on the whānau, not the cancer. Every family’s experience is unique, and so is the support they need.

Our vision is ‘To walk alongside and support all children and their families on their cancer journey and advance improvements to child cancer care’.

We are guided by values that shape everything we do:

  • Whakapono | Belief
  • Tautiaki | Trust
  • Ngākau Aroha | Empathy

Every role in our organisation plays a vital part in achieving this vision.

About the role
As the Database Specialist, you will be the subject matter expert and custodian of Child Cancer Foundation's donor database, Raiser's Edge NXT. You will play a critical role in ensuring our data is accurate, secure, insightful and supports fundraising growth, donor engagement and organisational decision-making.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Auckland office, reporting to the Donor Experience Manager.

Working across fundraising, finance, supporter care and digital functions, you'll manage database integrity, donor data, reporting, segmentation, donation processing and financial reconciliations while identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and automation.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining data, technology and process improvement to help drive meaningful outcomes for tamariki with cancer and their whānau.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve Child Cancer Foundation's Raiser's Edge database and associated systems.
  • Ensure donor data remains accurate, secure, compliant and aligned with privacy and fundraising best practices.
  • Manage audience segmentation and provide targeted data to support fundraising, marketing and donor communication activities.
  • Create dashboards, reports and insights that support organisational decision-making and fundraising growth.
  • Support donation processing, financial reconciliations and campaign tracking.
  • Act as the internal champion for Raiser's Edge NXT, supporting staff capability and system adoption.
  • Work closely with fundraising suppliers, consultants and third-party providers.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation and digital innovation.
  • Support peer-to-peer fundraising, Regular Giving and donor stewardship programmes through effective data management and reporting.

What we provide
Aside from working with a group of passionate and experienced people, we offer subsidised car parking, paid day off for your work anniversary and access to our Employee Assistance Programme.

You will join a purpose-driven organisation where your expertise will directly contribute to improving outcomes for children with cancer and their families.

What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience managing donor, membership or customer databases, ideally Raiser's Edge NXT or similar CRM platforms
  • Strong experience with data segmentation, reporting and database management best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to turn data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Experience with data imports, exports, dashboards and reporting.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • An understanding of privacy requirements and donor data management principles.
  • Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a passion for continuous improvement.

If you are passionate about data, systems and using technology to drive meaningful outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.
