Bridge IT Engineering is seeking experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineers to support a major Federal Government department in delivering critical database infrastructure upgrades, migrations and optimisation activities.

About the Role

Our Federal Government client is seeking experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineers with specialist database administration expertise across Microsoft SQL Server, IBM Db2 and MongoDB environments. The successful candidates will support critical database upgrades and migrations, with an immediate focus on MongoDB modernisation, ensuring platform stability, performance, security and service continuity. Working alongside established technical teams, you will contribute to the ongoing improvement and resilience of complex enterprise database environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist database administration across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS, Db2 Midrange and MongoDB platforms.
• Plan and implement database upgrades, migrations and performance optimisation activities.
• Support critical MongoDB upgrade and migration initiatives.
• Identify and mitigate technical, operational and migration risks.
• Maintain database integrity, availability, security and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and support backup, recovery and replication activities.
• Support database technologies operating within containerised environments.
• Collaborate with technical stakeholders and provide documentation and knowledge transfer.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Strong enterprise database administration experience in one or more of SQL Server, IBM Db2 z/OS, Db2 Midrange and MongoDB.
• Experience delivering complex database upgrades and migrations.
• Expertise in database performance tuning, replication, backup, recovery and high availability.
• Understanding of database security, data integrity and operational risk management.
• Experience supporting database platforms within containerised environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Previous experience in complex Federal Government or large enterprise ICT environments will be highly regarded.
