Database Support Engineer

• Shift: 1st Shift / 2nd Shift with On Call

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform level 1 and elevate to level 2 database administrative tasks.
• Receive and prioritize service desk tickets related to database issues.
• Assess the urgency and impact of each ticket to determine the order of resolution.
• Perform initial troubleshooting of database related problems reported in tickets.
• Identify common issues and apply predefined solutions or escalate to senior engineers when necessary.
• Assist end-users with basic database-related queries and issues.
• Maintain a detailed record of all triage tickets, including the problem description, actions taken, and resolutions provided.
• Assist in database backup and recovery operations, as directed by senior engineers and documentation.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks, such as index rebuilding, statistics updating, and data consistency checks.
• Participate in performance tuning activities, including query optimization and resource monitoring, with guidance from senior engineers.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with end-users, colleagues, and senior engineers.
• Stay current with database technologies, best practices, and industry trends through self-study and training opportunities.
• Shift work / on-call rotation to respond to critical database issues outside regular working hours.
• Management of internal systems through standard operating procedures
• Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Associates degree preferred
• Any operating system or database technology certifications are preferred but not required
• Basic understanding of operating systems and associated supporting technologies
• Very strong work ethic and willing to learn and pass certifications

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
