Databricks Platform Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Databricks Platform Engineer for our client to help build and operate a modern enterprise data platform.

You’ll work on contract-driven deployment automation, Databricks governance, CI/CD, and observability systems that enable secure, scalable, and reliable data operations across the organization.

What you’ll do

• Build contract-driven automation that translates data contracts into deployable Databricks assets
• Develop and maintain Databricks Declarative Automation Bundle deployment pipelines
• Build Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines with environment approvals, parameterization, and promotion controls
• Automate Unity Catalog governance using Databricks SDK and REST APIs
• Implement deployment safety mechanisms including atomicity, rollback, idempotency, and validation
• Build platform health dashboards, alerting, SLA/SLO, freshness, and cost monitoring
• Develop data quality and operational monitoring using Databricks system tables and Delta Lake
• Contribute to Databricks workspace deployment and administration alongside Cloud Platform Engineers

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, DataOps, or related engineering roles
• 3+ years of hands-on Databricks experience, including Unity Catalog, SDK, REST APIs, and workspace administration
• Strong Python skills for automation, YAML parsing, code generation, and API integration
• Strong software engineering practices including testing, error handling, maintainability, and documentation
• Experience with Declarative Automation Bundles or similar IaC frameworks
• Understanding of RBAC, governance, schemas, grants, column masks, and row filters
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines; Azure DevOps/Azure Pipelines preferred
• Experience building monitoring, alerting, and operational reporting
