Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Observability Engineer / SME with strong hands-on expertise in DataDog, AppDynamics, and Quantum Metrics. The candidate will be responsible for managing observability platforms, deploying and troubleshooting monitoring agents, implementing end-to-end monitoring solutions, and automating routine operational tasks.

This role is approximately 70% hands-on observability administration and automation and 30% Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) , including work with Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and related tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Observability Platform Management: Deploy, configure, customize, administer, and troubleshoot DataDog and AppDynamics agents.
• Application Monitoring: Implement native mobile monitoring, browser real-user monitoring (RUM), and synthetic monitoring.
• Full-Stack Observability: Monitor application performance, collect metrics, and analyze logs, traces, and performance issues.
• Automation & GitOps: Develop Python-based automation and use GitOps practices to streamline routine tasks and reduce manual effort.
• Cloud & Container Monitoring: Implement monitoring solutions in Google Cloud Platform environments and work with Kubernetes-based applications.
• Monitoring Strategy: Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and engineering teams to gather monitoring requirements and design effective monitoring solutions.
• Alerting & Incident Support: Develop and improve alerting strategies to identify issues, reduce alert noise, and improve system reliability.
• SRE Support: Work with Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and related observability tools to support reliability and performance initiatives.
• AI-Driven Automation: Where applicable, leverage AI to reduce operational toil, automate workflows, and improve monitoring efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack observability, APM, metrics collection, and log and trace analysis.
• Strong hands-on experience with DataDog and AppDynamics administration, agent deployment, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting.
• 3+ years of experience with observability platforms, including DataDog, AppDynamics, and Quantum Metrics.
• Experience implementing mobile monitoring, browser real-user monitoring (RUM), and synthetic monitoring.
• Strong Python scripting and automation skills.
• Experience with GitOps practices for automation and operational management.
• 3+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and containerized application environments.
• Ability to design, implement, and maintain monitoring solutions, dashboards, and alerting strategies.
• Strong collaboration and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work across multiple technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using AI to automate operational tasks, reduce alert noise, and minimize manual effort.
• Familiarity with Dynatrace, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry (OTel), and Grafana.
• Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and improving application reliability.

Role Breakdown

• 70% – Observability Administration & Automation: DataDog, AppDynamics, Quantum Metrics, agent management, monitoring configuration, troubleshooting, and Python/GitOps automation.
• 30% – SRE & Monitoring: Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, reliability improvements, and alerting optimization.
