DataOps Engineer

We're working with a client in the technology sector who is expanding their data engineering function in Madrid.

Our client is looking for a skilled DataOps Engineer to help develop and operate the data pipelines, backend services and cloud infrastructure supporting its Personalization platform.

This is an opportunity to join a small, growing team where data is central to the product and where your technical expertise can make a meaningful contribution.

With a potential route to Senior DataOps Engineer within the first year, this position could be particularly attractive to an experienced engineer looking for the next step in their career.

The Role

Working across data engineering, backend development and cloud infrastructure, you'll be responsible for:

• Designing, building and maintaining reliable data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Developing and maintaining Python-based backend services and integrations.
• Working with large, diverse datasets to support analytics, recommendations and personalization.
• Developing and operating cloud-based systems within AWS.
• Improving data orchestration, monitoring, reliability and performance.
• Contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment processes.
• Troubleshooting and improving existing production systems.
• Collaborating with engineering colleagues and supporting less experienced team members.
• Supporting the integration of client data into the Personalization platform.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced, hands-on engineer who can contribute from an early stage.

Essential skills and experience:

• Strong Python development and coding skills.
• Excellent SQL skills.
• Hands-on AWS cloud experience.
• Experience designing, developing and maintaining production data pipelines.
• Strong foundations in backend and data engineering.
• Experience with data orchestration, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems and contribute within a small engineering team.
• Experience within TV, VOD, streaming or media technology environments.

Desirable experience:

• AWS services such as Lambda, S3, Athena, Glue, API Gateway and SQS.
• Infrastructure as Code technologies, including Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Observability technologies such as OpenTelemetry.
• Data Science, Machine Learning or recommendation systems.
• Analytics and BI platforms.
