Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Cassandra Database Administrator to serve as a Senior Consultant in our data management and cloud engineering practice. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in managing, optimizing, and supporting distributed Cassandra environments for high-scale, mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, configure, and support Cassandra clusters in cloud and on-premise environments.
Proactively monitor cluster performance, diagnose root causes, and implement tuning for optimum throughput and low latency.
Develop, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for distributed data.
Implement data replication, sharding, consistency policies, and data compaction strategies.
Collaborate with application development and DevOps teams to integrate Cassandra into client solutions, ensuring correct data modeling and efficient query patterns.
Automate routine DBA tasks and monitoring using scripts and third-party tools.
Perform version upgrades, patching, and participate in migration projects.
Manage security, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit.
Troubleshoot production issues, provide root-cause analysis, and lead problem resolution efforts.
Mentor junior consultants and data engineers; develop and share best practices.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
6–10+ years of experience in database administration, with at least 3+ years focused on Apache Cassandra.
Deep knowledge of Cassandra architecture, internals (Gossip, Partitioning, Hinted Handoff, Repair), and operating in multi-DC, cloud, or hybrid environments.
Experience with DataStax Enterprise or similar commercial Cassandra distributions is a plus.
Proficiency in automation/scripting (Python, Shell, Ansible, etc.).
Knowledge of key tools (nodetool, cqlsh, DataStax OpsCenter, etc.).
Understanding of best practices for data modeling in NoSQL/Cassandra.
Experience with monitoring, capacity planning, scaling, and performance optimization in distributed systems.
Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and communication skills.
