About the role

We are seeking an experienced Day Duty Manager to join our team at Powderhorn Chateau. This is a full-time position based in Ohakune, Manawatu, offering the opportunity to manage our bar and beverage operations during day shifts. As Day Duty Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining high standards of customer service, and leading our bar and beverage team. This role is crucial to the success of our hospitality business, directly impacting guest satisfaction and revenue generation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all bar and beverage operations during day shifts, ensuring efficient and seamless service delivery
• Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance to maintain high service standards
• Monitor inventory levels, order stock, and manage supplier relationships to optimise costs
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, health, and licensing regulations specific to bar and beverage service
• Handle cash management, process transactions, and reconcile daily takings
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area and associated facilities
• Resolve customer complaints and concerns professionally and promptly
• Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly reports on operations and revenue
• Assist with promotional activities and suggest improvements to enhance guest experience
• Support the senior management team and collaborate with other departments to achieve business objectives

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in bar and beverage management or hospitality supervisory roles, preferably in a similar establishment
• Strong knowledge of bar operations, including stock management, pricing, and service standards
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain composure under pressure
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in training and motivating staff
• Sound mathematical and numeracy skills for cash handling and financial reporting
• Knowledge of health, safety, and licensing requirements relevant to hospitality establishments
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing business needs
• A valid New Zealand driver's licence would be advantageous
• Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and hospitality management software is desirable
