Daycare Assistant- substitute — Part-Time

Location:Torrington

Schedule:Part time 8 hours

Age Group: 6 weeks to pre school

About the Position

We are seeking a dependable, patient, and compassionate Daycare Assistant to help create a

safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. You will work alongside the lead teacher

to support daily routines, age-appropriate learning activities, and each child’s well-being.

Responsibilities

● Assist the lead teacher with planning and implementing age-appropriate learning

activities.

● Actively supervise and engage children during play, meals, rest periods, and transitions.

● Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental needs through positive

guidance.

● Assist with diaper changes, toilet training, handwashing, and other personal care

routines.

● Maintain a clean, organized classroom and follow established cleaning and sanitation

procedures.

● Follow the program’s safety procedures and promptly report injuries, illness, or other

concerns.

● Communicate respectfully with parents and caregivers, following the program’s

communication procedures.

● Perform other duties related to childcare and classroom support as assigned.Qualifications

● Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting

preferred.

● Basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate learning activities.

● Familiarity with positive behavior guidance techniques.

● Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

● Dependability and patient and a commitment to provide attentive care.

● Willingness to complete required childcare training and meet applicable employment

requirements.

● Must have CPR certification, EPI pen Certification and or willing to be certified by the

state of Connecticut.
