Daycare Driver

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Daycare Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of children to and from daycare facilities. This vital role combines responsible driving with compassionate child supervision, creating a secure and positive environment for young learners. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong understanding of traffic laws, and a genuine passion for working with children. Responsibilities

• Safely operate various vehicles including vans, or paratransit vehicles to transport children according to scheduled routes (7:00am - 9:30am and 2:30pm - 6:00pm).
• Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to ensure passenger safety at all times.
• Assist children with boarding and exiting vehicles, providing wheelchair assistance when needed, and ensuring proper seat belt use.
• Maintain a clean, organized vehicle environment, performing routine inspections and basic vehicle maintenance checks.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes, road conditions, or emergencies using emergency response procedures for transportation.
• Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and staff regarding transportation schedules, delays, or incidents.
• Adhere to school policies on behavior management and student discipline during transit.
• Conduct first aid or CPR when necessary and be prepared for emergency stop procedures to handle unforeseen situations.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation safety regulations, including state and local commercial driving laws.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by creating a friendly, respectful atmosphere for children and their families.

Experience

• Prior work experience working with children in childcare or educational settings is highly desirable.
• Valid Class E driver’s license with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport.
• behavior management strategies.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in emergency response procedures for transportation is advantageous.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, school policy knowledge, and transportation safety regulations is essential.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse communities.
