Little Bear Daycare is proud to be a Gold Award Winner – Best of Penticton 2026! We are committed to providing a safe, caring, and welcoming environment where children can learn, play, grow, and develop at their own pace.

Our multi-age childcare program focuses on play-based learning, positive relationships, creativity, and supporting the individual needs of every child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, nurturing, and age-appropriate care for children aged 1–5.
  • Plan and participate in engaging, play-based learning activities that support children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe, clean, and organized childcare environment.
  • Support daily routines, including meals, snacks, handwashing, diapering, toileting, rest periods, and transitions.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, sharing, and respectful interactions using supportive, age-appropriate guidance.
  • Prepare indoor and outdoor activities that promote exploration, creativity, and physical development.

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, guardians, and fellow staff members.
  • Follow Little Bear Daycare policies, licensing requirements, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, daily documentation, and incident reports as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the daycare team to provide a positive experience for children and families.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
  • Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certification is preferred; applicants with other relevant qualifications may be considered where permitted by licensing requirements.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification appropriate for childcare, or willingness to obtain it if accepted by the employer and licensing requirements.
  • Clear criminal record check suitable for working with children, as required.
  • Knowledge of child development, positive behaviour guidance, and play-based learning is an asset.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, patience, and organizational skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work effectively in a multi-age childcare setting.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of caring for young children, including bending, lifting, sitting on the floor, and participating in indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Ability to meet all applicable British Columbia childcare licensing requirements.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work with an award-winning childcare provider.
  • A supportive, friendly, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Meaningful work helping children build confidence, friendships, and essential early learning skills.
  • Approximately 30–35 hours per week.
  • An opportunity to contribute ideas and participate in creating engaging learning experiences.
  • A rewarding position where your work makes a real difference in the lives of children and families.
