What will this job do to improve your life?

If you enjoy payroll but want to move away from being buried in processing all day, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of a team and the day-to-day payroll operation. You'll join a growing organisation that has recently implemented Dayforce, giving you the opportunity to use your expertise, develop your leadership skills and have a real say in how the payroll function continues to improve.

The Low Down

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to lead a team of five Payroll Officers within a busy, centralised payroll function supporting 22 sites. You'll report to the Group Payroll Manager and take ownership of the day-to-day running of the team, ensuring payroll is accurate, deadlines are met and issues are resolved quickly. The environment is complex, with 12 industrial instruments, a fortnightly payroll cycle and a recently implemented Dayforce platform. Dayforce experience is essential for this one.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead, coach and support a team of five Payroll Officers
  • Coordinate fortnightly payroll, workloads, priorities and deadlines
  • Manage escalated payroll queries, errors and under/overpayments
  • Interpret Awards, Enterprise Agreements and industrial instruments
  • Support Dayforce testing, configuration, reporting and continuous improvemen

What Success Looks Like:

  • Strong Dayforce payroll experience - non-negotiable
  • Proven experience leading a payroll team
  • Strong Australian payroll knowledge
  • Experience interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements and complex industrial instruments

Benefits

  • $130k-$140k base + super
  • Hybrid working - 3 days office / 2 days WFH
  • Opportunity to develop your leadership capability
  • Opportunity to influence and improve a recently implemented Dayforce environment

Company & Culture

You'll be joining a growing Australian organisation with a large, geographically dispersed workforce and a centralised payroll function. It's a busy environment where payroll plays an important role across the business, so you'll have plenty of stakeholder interaction and variety. The culture will suit someone who is collaborative, approachable and calm under pressure. You'll be given ownership of the team while having the support of an experienced manager above you.
