What they need
WV Supply is seeking a Distribution Center Manager to lead the daily operation of our Distribution Center. This position is responsible for ensuring material is received, stored, picked, staged, loaded, transferred, and delivered accurately, safely, and on schedule.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The right person will be comfortable being present on the warehouse floor, setting clear expectations, checking work, following up with employees, and communicating issues before they become larger problems. The goal of the position is to help the Distribution Center operate in a reliable, organized, and well-communicated way.
The Distribution Center Manager will supervise DC employees and coordinate work involving receiving, picking, packing, staging, loading, branch replenishment, delivery preparation, returns, inventory handling, warehouse organization, safety, and equipment use. This position will also work closely with operations leadership, branch managers, drivers, and other departments to support dependable service across the company.
A successful candidate will have strong warehouse or distribution experience, good judgment, clear communication skills, and the ability to lead people in a practical and consistent way. This role requires someone who can assign work, verify completion, address missed expectations, support employee training, and help maintain repeatable procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage daily Distribution Center workflow, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, scanning, staging, shipping, transfers, returns, loading, and branch replenishment.
- Supervise, coach, train, and direct DC employees so work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Coordinate delivery preparation and branch replenishment, including proper truck loading, staged material, return handling, and communication with affected branches.
- Support inventory accuracy by reinforcing proper receiving, stocking, picking, transfer, return, and location procedures.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment.
- Communicate promptly with leadership, branches, drivers, and affected departments regarding staffing issues, delivery changes, material shortages, damaged material, equipment problems, safety concerns, or recurring process issues.
- Follow and reinforce company procedures, while helping identify where procedures, checklists, or training materials need improvement.
- Prepare work schedules, verify timekeeping, support attendance follow-up, and maintain appropriate documentation related to employee training, safety, and operational issues.
Qualifications
- Candidates must have at least three years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, logistics, or operations environment, including at least one year of supervisory, lead, or equivalent leadership experience.
- The position requires strong planning, organization, follow-through, communication, and employee leadership skills. Candidates should be comfortable using or learning warehouse systems, scanning tools, email, Microsoft Teams, Eclipse, Jira, and other systems used to support daily operations.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive passenger vehicles are required. Delivery-vehicle driving and DOT driver certification are not required for this role. The ability to safely operate or become certified to operate warehouse equipment, such as a pallet jack, forklift, or reach truck, is also required.
Physical and Schedule Requirements
This position requires regular work in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders where required, and lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
The normal work location is the Distribution Center. Some schedule flexibility may be needed for inventory, delivery issues, staffing needs, training, occasional evening or weekend work, or other operational needs.
