DDC Controls Technologist

Genesis Building Controls Ltd., Kelowna, BC, is actively seeking a Controls Technologist to provide support and assistance to our rapidly growing company. This is a full-time permanent position.

Successful Candidate Will:

• Be familiar with typical mechanical systems and DDC controls.
• Obtain a working knowledge of all equipment manufacturers’ devices, especially Honeywell products.
• Read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Provide estimated parts, labor, and estimated preliminary engineering for projects.
• Look for improvements in the controls strategy and RFI.
• Work with Visio to draft submittal drawings.
• Create Visio templates and standardized drawings.
• Size dampers and valves.
• Create submittal packages including valve and damper schedules.
• Field questions on the control drawings.
• Work with the installer(s) on changes to scope and drawings.
• Keep installer(s) current with controls drawings, specifications, and mechanical drawings.
• Create device labels and panel schedules.
• Create as-built drawings.
• Participate in site review, tender review and hand-off, project closing and operational meetings with the project manager as required.
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Co-ordinate various projects.

Requirements:

• Previous controls experience.
• Post-secondary education in a related field.
• Motivated and able to work with deadlines.
• Excellent communication, organizational and computer software skills.
