Position Summary

Using decision modeling and elicitation techniques, you will evaluate how an organization makes decisions and develop a rigorous, formal model of that decision-making. You will bring together advanced analytics, machine learning, AI, business rules, and human judgment in a single, unified decision model.

Your decision models will increase visibility into decision-making, improve business outcomes, and support decision automation. You will work with some of the world's largest companies, helping them understand and automate decision-making across a wide range of business problems. You will apply Blue Polaris' DecisionsFirst™ methodology, an approach to decision modeling built on the Decision Model and Notation (DMN) standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct decision modeling elicitation sessions with customer subject matter experts (SMEs).
• Capture and analyze decision structures and business rules.
• Work with SMEs to refine, complete, and correct decision models.
• Review policies, regulations, and documentation to extend and refine business rules.
• Present decision models to SMEs and business management.
• Work with developers to implement decision models in Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS).
• Work with developers to build performance dashboards based on the decision model.
• Review implemented business rules and dashboards to ensure they comply with the model.
• Assist in delivering decision modeling training, both online and in person, for public and private classes.

Requirements

• Proven experience eliciting requirements from groups of subject matter experts within organizations (essential).
• A strong drive to understand business problems.
• A motivated self-starter who is highly logical and well organized.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with SMEs, business management, and software developers.
• Comfortable and experienced presenting to small groups and facilitating discussions.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with structured analysis techniques such as data modeling is highly advantageous.
• An MBA or project management experience is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to travel when needed, including to customer locations and to meet the team in Panama.

Preferred Qualifications

None of these are required, but they will make you stand out.

• Experience with Decision Model and Notation (DMN) and/or The Decision Model (TDM).
• Experience with IBM decision automation tools, such as IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) or IBM Automation Decision Services (ADS).
• Experience delivering training or workshops.
