What they need
About the role
We build custom decks and outdoor living spaces across the Salt Lake and Utah County. We're looking for one person to run our builds start to finish — leading a small crew, managing the project, and putting the work in alongside them. You'll be on 1–2 new decks every week, at a new location each week, mostly across Salt Lake and Utah County.
This isn't a desk job and it isn't purely swinging a hammer. It's both. You lead 1–2 crew members, keep the homeowner in the loop, keep the job on schedule, and make sure the deck gets built right and built fast.
Who we're looking for
We'd rather pay a lot for someone excellent than a little for someone average. If you take real pride in your work, want an important role instead of just a paycheck, and are driven to grow, this is built for you. We're looking for a leader — someone others want to work for and learn from, who holds a high standard for themselves and the crew, and who wants to help build this company, not just clock in and out. If that's you, there's real room here — in pay, responsibility, and where you take this role.
What you'll do
- Build decks from start to finish — wood framing, composite decking, and railing installation
- Lead and train a crew of 1–2 on deck-building technique and jobsite standards
- Manage each project on-site: sequence the work, keep it on schedule, and finish clean
- Order materials and schedule pickups so the crew is never waiting on supplies
- Communicate directly with homeowners — set expectations, answer questions, and represent DeckNova well
- Optimize your crew's workflow to complete jobs quickly without cutting corners
What you need
- Framing experience required; full deck-building experience strongly preferred
- Ability to install composite decking and railing systems
- Your own truck — for getting to jobs and hauling tools and materials to and from sites
- Strong communication skills — you'll be the face of the job for the homeowner and the leader for your crew
- Reliable, organized, and able to run a jobsite without someone standing over you
- Valid driver's license
- Pergola and awning installation experience is a bonus, not a requirement
Pay & growth
- $30/hour to start, immediate raise once fully-trained, with more consistent raises
- We pay for skill — do excellent work and there's opportunity for higher pay, piece-rate earning, and a full-time Project Manager position down the road overseeing multiple projects
- All company tools provided (Makita) — having your own tools is a bonus
Why DeckNova
- Help grow the fastest deck-building company in Utah
- A clear path to grow — this role is built to lead into more pay and responsibility
- Steady, year-round work — new projects every week
- Local work, mostly within Salt Lake and Utah County
- Small, tight crew where your skill and leadership actually matter
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- Referral program
Work Location: In person
