What they need

In ESVAGT, safety is a fundamental part of everyday operations – Do it safely or not at all. As an offshore employee, you will work in a professional environment with clear procedures and a strong focus on safety, collaboration, and quality.

The Position

We are seeking a Deck Officer Apprentice to join our offshore fleet.

As a Deck Officer Apprentice at ESVAGT, you will be part of a structured training programme designed to support your development into a professional navigator. You will become an integrated member of the crew, gaining hands-on experience in both deck operations and bridge duties.

You will work closely with both the deck crew and bridge officers, participating in daily operations as well as structured training in accordance with your education record book. You will also take part in regular onboard drills, including firefighting, first aid, and Fast Rescue Boat (FRB) operations.

Your primary tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with daily deck operations and maintenance tasks
  • Participating in bridge watch training under supervision
  • Supporting navigation and operational planning tasks
  • Taking part in safety drills, including firefighting, first aid, and FRB operations
  • Contributing actively to onboard training and completion of your education record book

Qualifications

We expect that you:

  • Are currently enrolled in a Navigation Officer / Ship Master education programme
  • Have completed the first part of your training (e.g. first semesters of BS Flex or equivalent) prior to your first embarkation
  • Demonstrate a strong focus on safety and willingness to learn
  • Are proactive and motivated to take part in both practical tasks and training onboard
  • Thrive in a rotational offshore working environment
  • Interest in offshore vessel operations or emergency response services

Certificates:

  • Basic Safety Training (STCW)
  • Valid medical certificate for seafarers and a valid passport
  • Seafarer’s discharge book
  • Clean drug test (zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol onboard)
  • Valid criminal record certificate (maximum 3 months old)

Working at ESVAGT

At ESVAGT, you can expect a structured and varied cadetship with strong focus on both personal and professional development.

The apprentice programme consists of 12 months of effective sea service over a 24-month period, typically structured as:

  • 4 weeks onboard vessel
  • 4 weeks leave

During off periods, you will attend courses and education modules (e.g. at SIMAC) as part of your programme.

You will be part of a permanent Danish crew with strong professional standards and good team spirit onboard. Facilities include your own cabin, fitness equipment, and internet access.
