Deductions Specialist

We are looking for a Deductions Specialist to support deduction management and payment discrepancy resolution for a high-volume operation in Akron, Ohio. This position focuses on detailed research, careful documentation, and consistent follow-up to ensure customer claims, bill-backs, and denials are handled accurately. The ideal candidate is comfortable working through large amounts of account data and has a strong eye for exceptions that require manual review and resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate customer deductions, bill-backs, and payment variances to determine validity and drive timely resolution.

• Examine contracts, pricing terms, and promotional support documents to confirm whether claims meet approved guidelines.

• Challenge unsupported or inaccurate deductions by preparing denials, organizing backup documentation, and pursuing repayment opportunities.

• Review items routed through internal claims systems and complete the manual research needed to resolve exceptions accurately.

• Track open balances, aging, and recovery progress while focusing efforts on claims with the greatest financial impact.

• Reconcile deduction activity within customer accounts to help maintain accurate receivables records and reporting.

• Partner with teams such as Sales, Customer Service, Contract Administration, and Finance to address disputed items and recurring issues.

• Analyze deduction patterns and recommend practical process improvements that may reduce future claims activity.

• Contribute to month-end activities by supplying account analysis, status updates, and supporting documentation as needed.

• Experience working in accounts receivable with exposure to deductions, billing support, cash applications, or collections.

• Ability to review large volumes of transactional data with strong accuracy and attention to detail.

• Skill in researching account discrepancies and resolving issues that require careful follow-up and documentation.

• Familiarity with preparing dispute support, denial submissions, and repayment tracking for customer claims.

• Strong analytical and organizational abilities with the judgment to prioritize work based on aging and dollar value.

• Comfortable collaborating across multiple departments to gather information and resolve complex account issues.

• Proficiency using accounting or receivables systems and spreadsheet tools to monitor account activity and reporting.
