Job Description: Deli Associate - Wellfleet Marketplace

Position Summary:

The Deli Associate at Wellfleet Marketplace is a dynamic and crucial role, encompassing both food preparation and customer service duties. This position provides exceptional service at the deli counter, ensures the preparation of high-quality deli items, maintains a well-stocked and visually appealing deli display, and contributes to a clean and efficient deli environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, reliable, and possesses a strong work ethic, with a commitment to providing a positive and delicious experience for all customers.

We are looking to build a year-round team for a growth driven in store and online deli business. Must be willing to listen, learn, and grow!

Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

• Greet all customers with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
• Provide prompt, courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable service to all customers.
• Answer customer questions regarding deli products and ingredients.
• Take and fulfill customer orders accurately and promptly.
• Address customer concerns and resolve issues effectively.
• Food Preparation and Service:
• Prepare high-quality sandwiches, hot case products, and other deli items according to established recipes and standards.
• Ensure the grab-and-go case is fully stocked with fresh and appealing products.
• Prepare muffins, pastries, and baked breads as needed, following the Deli Manager's instructions.
• Maintain proper food handling and safety procedures at all times

Coffee Bar Maintenance:

• Keep the coffee bar area stocked with supplies and ready for service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area.Inventory and Stocking:
• Assist with inventory counts and mark out expired or damaged products.
• Ensure proper pricing of products and report any discrepancies.
• Restock deli and coffee bar supplies as needed.

Cleanliness and Sanitation:

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to Serve Safe guidelines.
• Sweep, mop, and wipe down surfaces regularly.
• Ensure all equipment and utensils are cleaned and sanitized.

Teamwork and Communication:

• Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Proactively check for assigned tasks and anticipate needs.
• Seek out managers or shift leads for guidance or additional tasks when needed.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management.

Task Management and Communication:

• Proactively review the white board for daily responsibilities.
• Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and within established timeframes.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and management.
• Seek clarification and guidance from managers or shift leads when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and recipes.
• Basic knowledge of food handling and safety (Serve Safe certification preferred).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• MUST be consistent, reliable and on time employee
• Food service experience preferred. Will teach good candidates

General Requirements:

• Adhere to all store policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Maintain a clean and professional personal appearance, including wearing assigned staff shirts.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to go up and down stairs.
• Ability to work in a refrigerated environment.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
