Deli Baker

We're looking for an experienced Baker to join our amazing crew at O.B. People's Food Co-op! This person will prepare and present fresh, delicious, vegan & organic baked goods and desserts that appeal to a variety of customers, crafted in a clean, efficient, and collaborative kitchen.

Essential Functions:

Duties & Responsibilities

• Follow recipes and production schedules for biscuits, pastries, cakes, pies, and other baked goods and desserts.
• Mix batters/doughs, bake, decorate, package, price, and display products.
• Store ingredients and products properly; rotate stock by FIFO.

Sanitation & Safety

• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and safe.
• Work safely in a shared kitchen saying “behind” and “sharp”; be aware of hazards and others’ movements.
• Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications:

• 1+ years commercial baking experience or equivalent education and/or personal experience required; experience with vegan baking preferred.
• Experience and/or proven skills in decorating/piping preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes and adjust for batch sizes.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation required.
• Knowledge of gluten free and/or health-oriented baking and ingredients preferred.
• Strong time management and organization skills.
• Knowledge of cooperative business models or prior co-op experience.
• Physical demands:
• Lift 50 lbs occasionally and up to 30 lbs frequently.
• Reach at or below the shoulder for long periods; frequent bending.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Stand for extended periods.

Pay Frequency:

• Bi weekly or Twice monthly
