Deli Counter Clerk

Fisher’s Deli is looking for a few great people to join our team!

We are a busy, Amish-market-style deli stand where good food, great customer service, and hard work all come together. We have a fun, close-knit team, but we also work very hard and move VERY fast.

If you love staying busy, enjoy talking with people, are good with numbers, and would rather have your workday fly by than watch the clock, you may be a great fit for us.

What Working Here Is Really Like

We want to be upfront: this is a fast-paced job.

When the market gets busy, we can have a line of customers waiting to be served, multiple orders going at once, food being prepared, products needing restocked, and coworkers needing a hand — all at the same time.

You need to move with purpose, think quickly, and keep a good attitude while doing it.

We aren't looking for someone who needs to be told every little thing to do next. The people who do best here look around, see what needs doing, and jump in.

What You'll Be Doing

A typical day may include:

• Greeting and serving customers
• Taking orders quickly and accurately
• Slicing, weighing, packaging, and labeling deli products
• Preparing food and products for the stand
• Handling cash and making change
• Doing quick mental math
• Restocking throughout the day
• Keeping the stand clean and organized
• Helping coworkers during busy rushes
• Setting up and/or closing down the stand
• Following food safety and sanitation procedures
• Jumping in wherever you're needed

A Few Things You Should Know

This is a very active, hands-on position. You will be on your feet for most of your shift and should be comfortable walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and moving quickly throughout the day.

Our market days can get extremely busy, and that's part of what makes this job fun.

We don't expect you to know everything on your first day. We can teach you our products, our system, and how we like things done.

What we can't teach as easily is work ethic, urgency, dependability, and a good attitude.

If you're the kind of person who sees a long line and thinks “Let's get after it!”, you'll probably fit right in.
