What they need
Delivery Driver & Workshop Operative
Foxstow | Freeland, Oxfordshire | Full-time, Permanent
Foxstow is looking for a reliable, practical and conscientious person to join our team in Freeland, Oxfordshire.
This is a varied role combining nationwide deliveries with practical work in our joinery workshop. Typically, around three days each week will involve preparing, packing and delivering our kitchens and cabinetry to customers, with the remaining time spent working alongside our workshop team.
We manufacture bespoke kitchens, wardrobes, media cabinetry, boot rooms, utility rooms, bathroom vanities and other fitted furniture. We’re looking for someone who will take the same care getting our cabinetry to the customer as our team takes making it.
The Role
Our office team plans the delivery schedule and routes, while the workshop team prepares the orders. You’ll be involved in the final stages of getting each order ready before taking responsibility for its safe delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Helping to pack and protect cabinetry and components ready for delivery
- Checking orders against delivery paperwork
- Helping to load the van safely and in the correct order for the planned route
- Delivering kitchens, cabinetry and components to customers throughout the UK
- Carrying out regular multi-drop delivery routes
- Driving regularly in London, which currently accounts for around half of our delivery work
- Unloading and carefully handling cabinetry at customers’ homes and project sites
- Communicating professionally with customers, contractors and our office team
- Looking after the company van and keeping it clean and organised
This isn’t a courier role. You’ll be handling high-quality cabinetry manufactured by the team you work alongside, so care, organisation and attention to detail are particularly important.
Workshop Work
When you’re not out delivering, you’ll work alongside our team in the Freeland workshop.
This will primarily involve helping to prepare cabinetry and joinery components ready for finishing, as well as packing and preparing completed orders for delivery.
Workshop duties will include:
- Sanding MDF, timber and other materials ready for finishing
- Checking surfaces, edges and details
- Filling and general preparation work
- Packing and protecting finished cabinetry
- Helping organise and move components through the workshop
- Assisting our cabinet-making and finishing teams
- General workshop duties as required
- Previous joinery, furniture or workshop experience would be useful, but isn’t essential. We’re happy to train the right person.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is an experienced and confident driver
- Is comfortable driving a van in London and other busy areas
- Holds a full UK driving licence
- Is reliable, punctual and well organised
- Is practical and enjoys hands-on work
- Has a good eye for detail
- Is physically capable of handling and unloading cabinetry safely
- Takes care when working in customers’ homes and on project sites
- Is friendly and professional when dealing with customers
- Can work independently when out on the road and as part of a team in the workshop
- Is willing to learn new workshop skills
- Will take responsibility for the van and the products being delivered
Experience in furniture, kitchens, joinery, removals or similar delivery work would be particularly useful.
Working Hours
Our normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm.
Delivery days will vary depending on the route and may sometimes require an earlier start or later finish. We plan delivery routes in advance and try to organise them as efficiently as possible.
What We Provide
Full-time, permanent PAYE position
£28,000–£30,000 salary, depending on experience
Company delivery van
Clean, heated and modern workshop
Training for the workshop and preparation side of the role
Varied work between driving, packing and workshop preparation
Monday-to-Friday working
