DELIVERY DRIVER

Position Summary :

As a Delivery Driver, you are responsible for safely operating a vehicle and providing superior customer service to assigned routes. Drivers navigate residential environments, congested roadways, alleyways, and high-traffic areas all while ensuring that their vehicle remains in compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as company standards. Driving routes will sometimes be local but also could be long distance to our other locations in NY and PA, which call for extended hours on those days.

Driver would also be used in production when downtime permits. Duties would include material handling and supporting operations.

Essential Job Duties:

• Following all traffic laws, DOT regulations and best practices for safety when delivering items
• Communicating with dispatchers, drivers and other team members to make deliveries
• Meeting delivery deadlines and following assigned delivery routes
• Performing basic truck maintenance, such as refueling, doing visual inspections and reporting potential issues
• Preparing, loading and unloading the delivery vehicle
• Providing exceptional customer service and obtaining client or customer signatures when needed
• Completing any paperwork related to the deliveries and completing reports as required
• Using additional equipment, such as forklifts, hand trucks and dollies, as needed
• Support a safety culture by following all safety rules including reporting all incidents and near misses.

Qualifications/Requirements :

• A valid driver’s license and, in some cases, a commercial driver’s license
• Knowledge of how to handle materials safely, such as food or chemicals
• Familiarity with using navigation systems
• Time management to ensure deliveries are made on schedule
• Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to stay safe while driving
• Ability to load and unload heavy cargo and use any machinery or equipment necessary to help
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• A clean driving record and safe driving skills
• Forklift experience desired.
• Computer literacy –Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Organized, self-structured, self-driven.
• Practical approach, straightforward and communicative.
• Ability to work independently, as well as a team.
• Must be able to do overnight trips for out of state deliveries and pickups.

Physical Requirements/Safety :

• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to drive for long periods of time.
• Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT physical.
