Commercial Delivery Driver

Uncle Beef – Crayford, Kent

Pay: £13.00–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 5:00am–10:00am

Contract: Zero-hours contract, with regular hours currently available

Vehicle: Company refrigerated van provided

About Uncle Beef

Uncle Beef is a growing, family-run butcher supplying quality meat and butchery products to both retail and commercial customers.

As our commercial business continues to expand, we’re looking for a reliable, friendly and professional Commercial Delivery Driver to join our team.

Our drivers are an important part of the business and are often the face of Uncle Beef when dealing with our customers. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of great service and, above all, can be relied upon.

The Role

You’ll start your day early from our preparation centre in Crayford, loading one of our company refrigerated vans and delivering orders primarily to our commercial customers across Central London.

The role will also include collections and visits to farms, suppliers and butchers’ markets across Kent, Sussex and the Reading area, together with occasional deliveries to our retail customers throughout Kent.

Typical working hours are currently Monday to Friday, 5:00am–10:00am, although some days may vary depending on the delivery schedule. We aim to have the main delivery run completed before 11:00am.

As Uncle Beef continues to grow, we expect the role and available hours to develop with the business.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

• An experienced and confident driver with a clean UK driving licence
• Reliable and punctual – a 5am start means we need someone we can depend on
• Friendly, polite and customer focused
• Confident driving a van into and around Central London
• Able to work independently and use their own initiative
• A good problem solver who can think on their feet
• Comfortable with early morning starts
• Physically capable of loading and unloading customer orders
• Professional when dealing with customers, suppliers and farmers
• Flexible when routes or customer requirements change

Previous professional driving experience is essential.

Experience within food, catering, hospitality, butchery or refrigerated deliveries would be an advantage, but isn’t essential.

Pay & Benefits

The starting rate is £13.00–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Your pay will be reviewed following successful completion of your probationary period, with the opportunity to progress as the role and business grow.

The position is initially offered on a zero-hours contract while we continue to grow our delivery requirements.

We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to drive a van. We’re looking for someone dependable who can represent Uncle Beef properly, build good relationships with our customers and become an important part of the team as we grow.
