Driver / Shop Technician

Company Overview

Rainguard Exteriors Inc. is a locally owned Edmonton contractor established in 1981. We specialize in residential and commercial exterior installations, including vinyl siding, fiber cement board, fascia, soffit, metal cladding and eavestroughing.

We are seeking a dependable Driver / Shop Technician to join our team in a positive, family-oriented work environment.

Position Summary

The Driver / Shop Technician is responsible for the safe and timely delivery, pickup and movement of construction materials, tools and equipment between the shop, suppliers and job sites. The position also supports shipping and receiving, inventory organization, shop maintenance and basic fabrication work.

The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, organized and comfortable working independently while providing reliable service to installation crews, customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles while complying with traffic laws and company policies.
• Deliver materials, tools and equipment to job sites accurately and on schedule.
• Pick up materials from suppliers and return unused materials from job sites.
• Verify loads against delivery documents, work orders or material lists.
• Secure and protect materials before transport to prevent damage or loss.
• Load and unload vehicles safely, using appropriate equipment and lifting practices.
• Complete vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate delivery, pickup, mileage and inspection records.
• Communicate delivery status, delays and site concerns to the Operations Manager.
• Coordinate courteously with installation crews, customers, suppliers and other team members.
• Assist with shipping, receiving and inventory organization.
• Help maintain a clean, safe and orderly shop, yard and vehicle.
• Assist with painting panels and trim, bending metal and preparing materials when required.
• Support installation and service crews with setup, preliminary installation or repair work as part of on-the-job training.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the Operations Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid driver's license appropriate for the company vehicles being operated.
• Driver's abstract demonstrating a minimum of five years of clean driving history.
• Experience driving commercial vans, pickup trucks or vehicles with trailers is preferred.
• Experience loading, securing and transporting construction materials is an asset.
• Familiarity with Edmonton and surrounding-area routes is an asset.
• Experience using manual and electric hand tools is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of residential construction and Canadian exterior building products is an asset.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Physical and Safety Requirements

• Follow all Rainguard Exteriors Inc. health and safety policies and procedures.
• Complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
• Be subject to reasonable-cause drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
• Regularly lift and carry up 50 lb and occasionally handle heavier items, up to 100 lb, with assistance or suitable equipment.
• Perform loading, unloading, bending, reaching and material-handling duties.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and job-site conditions.
• Stand, walk or drive for extended periods.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.
• Safely enter and exit vehicles and access active construction sites.

Pay: $20.00-$28.00 per hour
