What they need

1. About Skillmind Software

Visit our website at www.skillmindsoftware.com to learn about Skillmind Software Ltd, our products and our services before you apply.

2. Role Purpose

The Delivery Lead turns signed contracts into signed acceptance certificates. They run several ERP, SaaS and custom-development projects in parallel, allocate people so no project is neglected, and step in personally when a technical issue threatens a milestone.

The role sits between the client and the technical team. It owns scope, schedule, quality and client satisfaction, and keeps the business informed through accurate reports, documentation and time records.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Project Delivery & Client Sign-off

  1. Own end-to-end delivery of each assigned project: kickoff, requirements, configuration or development, data migration, testing, training, go-live and hypercare.
  2. Agree acceptance criteria with the client at kickoff so sign-off conditions are clear from day one.
  3. Plan and run User Acceptance Testing (UAT), track defects to closure and obtain formal UAT and go-live sign-off.
  4. Secure milestone and final acceptance certificates, and hand them to Finance to trigger invoicing.
  5. Control scope through a documented change-request process; no unapproved work goes into delivery.
  6. Identify delivery risks early and keep a mitigation plan for each.
  7. Manage the hand-over from implementation to the support team, aligned with the client's SLA.

3.2 Resource Management

  1. Allocate consultants, developers and QA engineers across concurrent projects based on skills, priority and deadlines.
  2. Hold a weekly resource review so every active project gets proper attention and no client is left waiting.
  3. Rebalance workload when priorities shift, and escalate capacity gaps to the COO with a recommended fix.
  4. Assign daily tasks, follow up on progress and remove blockers for the team.
  5. Coach team members and give input to their performance reviews.

3.3 Technical Issue Resolution

  1. Act as first point of escalation for technical problems on any project.
  2. Diagnose and resolve issues across ERP configuration, SQL Server databases, integrations, data imports, reports and hosting.
  3. Review solution designs and custom code before client delivery to catch problems early.
  4. Bring in senior technical resources when an issue is beyond team capacity, and own it until closed.
  5. Record root cause and fix for recurring issues in the knowledge base.

3.4 Communication & Client Management

  1. Act as the single point of contact for clients during delivery.
  2. Run weekly status meetings and steering-committee updates with client stakeholders.
  3. Handle client escalations calmly and set realistic expectations on timelines and scope.
  4. Work with Sales on pre-sales scoping and effort estimates so commitments are deliverable.

3.5 Reporting, Documentation & Time Tracking

  1. Publish weekly project status reports: progress, milestones, risks, issues and next steps.
  2. Maintain project documentation: project charter, plan, business requirements, functional specs, test scripts, training manuals, UAT and go-live sign-off documents.
  3. Ensure every team member logs daily work and hours in TeamKazi, the company's project management system.
  4. Review timesheets weekly against budgeted hours and flag overruns before they affect margin.
  5. Provide monthly delivery reports to management on utilisation, project health and billable hours.

4. Qualifications & Experience

4.1 Required

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems or a related field.
  2. 4 to 6 years of experience in IT, including at least 2 years leading ERP or business-software implementations as Delivery Lead, Project Manager or Implementation Lead.
  3. Proven record of taking multiple concurrent projects through UAT to formal client sign-off.
  4. Hands-on implementation experience with at least one of SAP Business One, Sage 200 Evolution or Odoo.
  5. Working knowledge of SQL Server: writing queries, troubleshooting data and supporting reports.
  6. Experience coordinating small teams of consultants and developers.

4.2 Preferred

  1. Project management certification: PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM or Certified ScrumMaster.
  2. SAP Business One or Sage Evolution certification.
  3. Experience with HR and payroll systems, including Kenyan statutory requirements (willingness to learn Kenyan payroll rules).
  4. Exposure to manufacturing, distribution or hospitality clients.
  5. Familiarity with .NET applications, ERP SDKs, APIs and system integrations.
  6. Experience using AI tools to speed up documentation, testing or reporting.

5. Skills & Competencies

  • Delivery Management: Planning, scheduling, scope control and risk management; Agile and Waterfall methods.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose ERP, database, integration and hosting issues; read logs; write SQL queries.
  • Communication: Clear, confident written and spoken English; able to present to client management.
  • Reporting: Concise weekly status reports and monthly management dashboards.
  • Documentation: BRDs, functional specs, test scripts, user manuals and sign-off documents.
  • Time Management: Disciplined daily time tracking; holds the team to the same standard.
  • Leadership: Assigns work fairly, follows up firmly, resolves conflicts and builds accountability.
  • Client Handling: Manages expectations, negotiates scope and stays calm under escalation.
  • Tools: TeamKazi or similar PM tool (Jira, OpenProject), MS Office/Google Workspace, SQL Server Management Studio.

6. Working Conditions & Company Policies

  1. Based at the Nairobi office, with regular client-site visits and occasional travel within East Africa; a valid passport is required.
  2. May need to support go-lives and critical issues outside normal working hours.
  3. All work and hours must be logged daily in TeamKazi.
  4. Every new recruit signs the company's zero-tolerance policy on "alcohol at work" and "sexual harassment".

This position requires relocation to Nairobi, Kenya. Only interested candidated need apply.
