What they need
We are looking for a new Dementia Project Coordinator who can use asset-based community development values and practices to work with people living with dementia, their carers and other stakeholders to make changes in their lives.
Southern Brooks has delivered dementia awareness work for over a decade, overseeing the South Gloucestershire Dementia Action Alliance and establishing successful Memory Cafes in Patchway (now run independently) and on the Kingswood-Soundwell border, which runs twice each month, 23 sessions per year.
We are looking for someone with strong community development skills, experience of working alongside people living with dementia and their carers, and a commitment to asset-based, inclusive and strengths-focused ways of working.
The post-holder will support the development of South Gloucestershire as a dementia friendly community, working with South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) and partners, and further developing the South Gloucestershire Dementia Action Alliance (SGDAA).
This is a fixed term role until 30th September 2026, with a view to extend, subject to funding.
If you were already in this role, you might be doing some of these things this week:
- spending Monday at The Retreat memory café in Soundwell, connecting with people living with dementia and their carers;
- talking to a local business about practical steps it can take to become more dementia friendly;
- bringing partners together through the South Gloucestershire Dementia Action Alliance or Community of Practice;
- gathering people's experiences to help influence local dementia and community cohesion work;
- putting together the monthly dementia newsletter; or
- supporting volunteers and community groups to turn a good idea into a new dementia-friendly activity.
As a vital member of our team and in return for your passion, expertise and commitment, we will provide you with:
- A salary of £28,088 per year (pro-rata)
- Excellent Annual Leave entitlement - starting at 5 weeks plus bank holidays per year (pro rata)
- Great sickness benefits
- A passionate, inclusive, committed and welcoming workplace
- A flexible, hybrid, casual-dress work environment
- And we will even give you a paid day off for your birthday!
Apply on our website to register your interest in this Dementia Project Coordinator position by 11:59pm on Wednesday 28th October 2026. Interviews will be held on Monday 9th November 2026.
