What they need

We're not your typical kitchen.

The Henley on Broadwater is a nationally recognised premium retirement living community, perched on the edge of the Broadwater in Southport. Our full-service bistro and café operates seven days a week, and our kitchen team produces meals our residents genuinely look forward to, not mass-produced, not assembly-line. Real food, made with care, for people who have high expectations and the time to notice.

We're looking for a skilled and reliable Demi Chef to join our team in a part-time capacity — minimum 20 hours per week, with genuine flexibility for additional hours and function work for the right person.

About the role

You'll work within a small, professional kitchen team reporting to our Head Chef and Bistro Manager. Day to day, this means solid food production, breakfast, lunch and dinner service, cabinet items, specials, and seasonal menus, delivered consistently and to a high standard. When the Head Chef is away, you step up. That's the expectation, and it matters here.

This isn't a role that suits someone looking to coast. It suits a chef who takes real pride in their work, communicates well, and understands that in a retirement living community, the people you're cooking for are the entire point.

What we're looking for

You'll bring relevant experience from a hotel, restaurant, café, bistro, or aged care kitchen and you'll be the kind of person who sets their section up properly, turns up when they say they will, and doesn't wait to be told when something needs doing.

You'll need to be available for a rotation roster including weekends and most public holidays, and be willing to contribute to community functions as they arise.

A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is desirable, and a Food Safe Certificate is an advantage — though we can support the right candidate in obtaining these.

The non-negotiables

  • Current or willingness to obtain a National Police Check

  • Full working rights in Australia

  • Flexibility across a rotation roster including weekends

What we offer

  • Competitive wages for the right candidate

  • No late-night shifts — we're a breakfast, lunch and early dinner operation

  • A genuine team culture built around respect, quality, and craft

  • The chance to be part of a community where your work is noticed and valued

Ready to apply?

If you take pride in what you cook and want to work somewhere that feels like it matters, we'd love to hear from you. Apply with your resume and a brief cover letter telling us about the kitchen environments you've worked in and what you love about cooking.
