Duties

• Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry treatments
• Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols
• Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while maintaining strict adherence to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
• Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, updating medical records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and verifying patient information for accuracy
• Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring comfort throughout visits
• Maintain clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations and handle sensitive medical documentation with discretion
• Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as patient management software updates and coordinating with the dental receptionist for seamless clinic operations

Skills

• Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate record keeping and appointment management
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
• Experience with dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners
• Expertise in chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry to improve efficiency during procedures
• Familiarity with infection control standards, including dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention practices
• Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with oral surgery or pediatric dentistry cases confidently
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients, dentists, hygienists, and other team members
