About the role

We’re looking for a Dental Assistant to join our friendly and experienced Oral Health team at North Richmond Community Health (NRCH) for a 12 month maternity leave position.

Working alongside our oral health professionals, you’ll provide high-quality chairside assistance and help create a welcoming, safe and positive experience for our clients.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide chairside assistance to dental and oral health professionals.
  • Prepare surgeries, instruments, materials and equipment for daily clinical activities.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, sterilisation and clinical record keeping.
  • Welcome clients and support a positive and respectful experience throughout their care.
  • Provide oral hygiene information and support as directed by dental operators.
  • Assist with reception, intake and other clinical administration duties.
  • Support stock control, equipment maintenance and clinic audits.
  • Participate in health promotion activities delivered by the Oral Health Program and broader NRCH team.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Oral Health and other NRCH programs to support coordinated, client-centred care.

About you

You’ll be an organised and compassionate Dental Assistant who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and providing high-quality care to a diverse community.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional, respectful and client-focused approach.
  • The ability to work sensitively and appropriately with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Confidence undertaking basic administration and reception duties.

The ability to communicate in a language other than English would be an advantage.
