Duties

• Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
• Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols
• Take high-quality dental x-rays and operate medical imaging devices such as 3D scanners while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
• Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
• Collect vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care and treatment planning
• Provide excellent patient management by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout visits
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing patient flow, and maintaining clinical supplies

Requirements

• Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment, and clinical procedures
• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of infection control practices including dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention standards
• Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety protocols for patients and staff
• Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and oral surgery to assist effectively during procedures
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain treatments clearly to patients of all ages, including children in pediatric dentistry settings
• Certification or training in dental assisting preferred; must be committed to ongoing professional development in dental assisting techniques and healthcare infection control expertise
