Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant performs duties such as:

• Assisting the pediatric dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
• Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Asking about the patient's medical history and weight and vitals
• Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
• Helping kids feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
• Providing patients and parents with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling)
• Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; 
(e.g. toothbrushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
• Assisting in front office duties such as answering the phone, scheduling patients, etc.
• Communicating with parents and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone)
• Keep operatories neat and orderly
• Making sure supplies are stocked at all times
• To ensure that no documents leave the practice premises with any clinical staff member, including associate doctor (ie.; clinical charts, health histories, patient information, etc.)
• Keeping your SDS Binder up-to-date
• To keep busy during down time with additional responsibilities
• To maintain clinical equipment
• To maintain a sterile and OSHA compliant environment
• To participate in CE courses
• To be friendly, encouraging and an active listener with patients and co-workers
• To help ensure the clinic runs in a timely, efficient manner

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
