Dental Assistant

Core Responsibilities

• Chairside Assistance: Hand instruments to the dentist, manage oral suction, and keep the treatment area dry and clean during procedures like fillings and crowns. [1]
• Patient Care: Welcome patients, make them comfortable in the dental chair, record vital signs, and explain post-treatment care. [1, 2]
• Inference & Sterilization: Sterilize dental instruments using autoclaves, disinfect treatment rooms, and prepare instrument trays. [1]
• Radiography & Lab Work: Take and process X-rays under safety regulations, and pour dental impressions for models. [1, 2]
• Administrative Tasks: Schedule appointments, update patient dental records, and handle billing or supply inventory. [1]

Key Skills & Requirements

• Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle small, intricate tools safely inside a patient's mouth. [1]
• Communication: Compassionate interpersonal skills to calm anxious patients and explain basic oral hygiene. [1]
• Education & Certification: High school diploma plus a certificate or on-the-job training; local health authority exams (such as DHA or local equivalents) may apply depending on your region. [1, 2]
