Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols.
• Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including X-ray imaging, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialty treatments using dental equipment such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
• Manage patient records using patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate medical documentation and compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
• Take vital signs and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care and facilitate smooth clinical workflows.
• Educate patients on oral health care instructions, post-treatment care, and preventive practices in accordance with dental terminology and healthcare infection prevention protocols.
• Support administrative tasks including answering the phone as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating patient flow efficiently.

Skills

• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate documentation and data management.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental assisting techniques (including four-handed dentistry), and clinical procedures across various specialties like pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry.
• Expertise in infection control practices including aseptic technique, dental sterilization procedures, healthcare infection prevention and control expertise to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental instruments processing tools, and other clinical devices with precision.
• Excellent communication skills for patient management and collaboration within the dental team; experience as a dental receptionist is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry to facilitate accurate documentation and effective communication with healthcare providers.
• Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and medical documentation standards necessary for comprehensive patient care.
