Dental Assistant

Duties

• Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and aseptic techniques in accordance with infection prevention management policies
• Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including X-ray imaging, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing support with dental instrument processing and medical imaging
• Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and maintaining accurate medical documentation
• Manage patient care by taking vital signs, updating medical records, and providing clear instructions on post-treatment care
• Operate patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to schedule appointments, update medical records, and facilitate smooth patient flow
• Support the dental receptionist by managing patient check-in/out processes and answering basic inquiries about procedures or appointment scheduling
• Follow all clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant within a dental clinic environment, with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy
• Proficiency in using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for accurate documentation
• Familiarity with dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental sterilization procedures, and dental x-ray machines
• Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards
• Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently across various specialties including endodontics and oral surgery
• Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and general healthcare settings
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially in pediatric dentistry settings
• Certification in X-ray operation (as required by local regulations) is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is expected
