Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
• Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
• Take and develop dental X-ray images using dental x-ray equipment and digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
• Manage patient information accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to enhance their understanding and comfort.
• Process dental instruments through sterilization procedures following aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards.
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and handling reception duties as a dental receptionist when needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and clinical confidentiality policies.
• Proficiency in dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures.
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, along with experience using patient management software.
• Strong understanding of medical documentation practices including medical coding, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques.
• Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control expertise necessary for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety protocols; experience with dental x-ray equipment is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly to patients of all ages; experience in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery is a plus.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, assist patients comfortably, and handle dental equipment efficiently.
