Dental Assistant (Temp)

Description

UAB Temp Services is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Dental Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support in a dental care setting.

The selected candidate will assist dental providers during various procedures, maintain treatment rooms, sterilize instruments and equipment, take and process dental radiographs, and ensure necessary supplies are available for patient care.

This position requires the ability to respond to the unique needs of patients across all age groups, from newborns through geriatric patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Chairside Dental Assisting

• Provide chairside assistance to dentists and other dental professionals during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Prepare patients, instruments, materials, and equipment for dental procedures.
• Assist with instrument transfer, suctioning, and other chairside duties.
• Help maintain efficient patient flow and a comfortable treatment environment.
• Communicate professionally with patients and clinical staff.

Sterilization and Infection Control

• Clean, disinfect, and prepare dental treatment and surgery rooms.
• Sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to established infection control procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment areas.
• Follow applicable safety, sanitation, and infection prevention protocols.

Dental Radiography and Equipment

• Take and process dental radiographs as authorized and in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Prepare and maintain dental radiographic equipment.
• Assist with routine equipment maintenance and report equipment concerns.

Clinical and Patient Support

• Dispense and organize dental supplies and materials.
• Monitor inventory and assist with restocking supplies.
• Provide age-appropriate support to patients ranging from newborns to geriatric individuals.
• Assist with patient preparation and post-procedure instructions as directed.
• Support accurate clinical documentation and other assigned clinic activities.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a dental office, dental clinic, or related healthcare setting.
• Completion of a dental assisting training program.
• Experience with chairside assisting, instrument sterilization, and dental radiography.
• Familiarity with dental terminology, equipment, and supplies.
