Who We Are
EDGE is building a bridge between Top Global Talent and the US Healthcare & Insurance Industry. We are on a mission to create a borderless network of exceptional talent with people at the center of everything we do. See our values and more on onedge.co.
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly organized, professional Scheduling Coordinator to serve as the primary voice of a busy faculty dental practice. Operating as a critical liaison between patients, faculty providers, and the wider university health network, this role supports patient access and clinic efficiency by managing appointments, provider calendars, and daily front-office workflows.
The ideal candidate possesses warm, clear communication, a strong foundation in dental scheduling (specifically balancing patient urgency with faculty teaching/research commitments), and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, desk-based environment with continuous headset and computer use.
Key Responsibilities
- High-Volume Call Management: Answer multi-line calls with professionalism and empathy, fielding questions on services, hours, fees, policies, and parking.
- Clinical Triage: Identify urgent dental needs (e.g., pain, infection, broken restorations) and triage emergency calls to the clinical team or on-call dentist per protocol.
- Message Routing: Escalate complex patient concerns or workflow disruptions to the Front Office Supervisor and clearly document all interactions in the practice management system.
- Chart Management: Create and update electronic dental charts, ensuring accurate procedure sequencing and attaching necessary documents (x-rays, referrals, outside records) in strict compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Pre-Appointment Readiness: Confirm all required documents and forms are completed prior to the visit and that patients receive clear preparation instructions.
- Benefits Verification: Collect preliminary dental and medical insurance details by phone, understanding PPO and DHMO plan types, dual coverage rules, frequency limitations, and waiting periods.
Requirements
- Experience & Voice: Must have proven experience in a high-volume dental or medical front-office setting. Must be able to work directly from Edge Campus.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with dental practice management systems (e.g., Dentrix Enterprise, CloudStack, Open Dental) and communication platforms (Slack, Teams).
- Core Knowledge: Thorough understanding of common dental terminology, CDT codes, procedure durations, and dental insurance basics (EOBs, copays, maximums).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional active listening, empathy, and emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive interactions. Must demonstrate composure under sustained call volume, strong attention to detail, and sound judgment in clinical triage.
- Compliance: Strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines, organizational privacy policies, and discretion with confidential data.
Our Hiring Process
- Application Review: Submit your application and resume. Our team carefully evaluates all candidates to ensure a good fit.
- Edge Interview: You'll be invited to connect with a representative from Edge to present a detailed and tailored fit to your profile.
- Client Interviews: Successful candidates finish an onboarding & training phase and are placed in client interviews to showcase their skills and align with specific client needs.
- Final Selection: Once a good match is made, you’ll join the Edge Global Talent Community, ready to make an impact in the world of healthcare.
