Deposit Operations Specialist

We are looking for a Deposit Operations Specialist to support essential banking operations in Massachusetts. This is a Remote contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-focused candidate who can manage high-volume processing, investigate exceptions, and contribute to accurate daily transaction activity. The role will work across deposit, payment, and card-related functions while helping maintain strong operational controls and timely reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Process returned items and ensure transactions are handled accurately within required timelines.

• Investigate and resolve account discrepancies, balancing issues, and system-related variances affecting daily operations.

• Review merchant and mobile deposit submissions, verify information, and complete processing with a high level of accuracy.

• Monitor daily operational reports, identify outstanding items, and take appropriate follow-up action to bring issues to resolution.

• Support debit card operations by handling adjustments, researching exceptions, and assisting with compromised card cases.

• Prepare, reconcile, and validate reports used for operational tracking and internal controls.

• Conduct account research related to indemnification requests, unauthorized activity, and subpoena-driven inquiries.

• Confirm transaction processing activity, maintenance tasks, and reporting outputs are completed in accordance with business procedures.

• Stay informed on policy, procedure, and workflow updates and apply changes consistently in day-to-day responsibilities

• 2+ years of relevant experience in banking or financial services operations.

• College degree or comparable industry experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of deposit operations, payment processing, and Automated Clearing House (ACH) activity.

• Previous teller or customer-facing experience in a financial institution is helpful.

• Ability to analyze operational data, recognize patterns, and clearly communicate findings.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader team.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
