Deputy Construction Manager

About the role

The Deputy Construction Manager (DCM) will report directly to the Construction Manager (CM) and to the Project Manager via the Construction Manager. The DCM will assist the CM on site in a deputy capacity when the CM is not available. The DCM will be essentially on the site office from the commencement of the construction period or whenever there is any construction activity in progress.

Key responsibilities

• Establish the site construction plan together with CM for all aspects of site management and construction activity coordination on each field
• Ensure that construction proceeds in accordance with the approved or agreed schedule
• Organize the site construction team together with or on behalf of the Construction Manager
• Provide oversight responsibility for subcontractors and vendors' organizing of their site construction teams
• In consultation with the Safety Manager, initiate and ensure reasonable adherence to the requirements stated in the approved Safety and Health Plan
• In consultation with the QA/QC Engineer, develop and implement the approved Quality plan
• Prepare the construction program, including implementation, work site supervision plan and site office operations plan
• Prepare workforce loading requirements and schemes for cost control, schedule control and materials control at the work site
• Support evaluation of subcontractor and vendor proposals
• Manage and control fiscal allocation for site operation and all on-site supervisory personnel

About you

• Experience in construction management and site supervision
• Knowledge of safety and health management requirements
• Understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes
• Ability to manage subcontractors and vendors
• Proficiency in construction scheduling and cost control
• Experience with construction reporting and documentation
• Technical knowledge of system testing and commissioning
• Ability to prepare As-Built Drawings and construction documentation
