  • Lead, motivate, supervise and develop a team of residential care staff.
  • Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
  • Oversee safeguarding practices, risk assessments, incident management and care planning.
  • Conduct staff supervisions, performance reviews and support staff training and development.
  • Coordinate staff rotas, ensuring safe staffing levels and effective shift management.
  • Monitor care records, complete audits and contribute to quality assurance and service improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, families, education providers and other professionals.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and child-centred environment that meets each young person's individual needs.
  • Support Ofsted inspections, Regulation 44 visits and Regulation 45 quality of care reviews.
  • Participate in shift work, on-call arrangements and sleep-in duties where required.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or a recognised equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working within a residential children's home.
  • At least 1 year's experience in a senior, supervisory or management position.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted expectations.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and complex needs.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage a staff team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and professional documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and participate in on-call arrangements as required.
  • Willingness to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, if not already achieved.

Desirable Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • Experience working within an Ofsted-rated Good or Outstanding children's home.
  • Experience supporting young people at risk of child sexual exploitation, self-harm or going missing.
  • Experience conducting staff supervisions, managing performance and implementing service improvement plans.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic, trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to residential childcare.
  • Experience contributing to Ofsted inspections and regulatory compliance.
