What they need

Deputy Nursery Manager

The Treehouse Nature Nurseries, Eastrington

Full time | Permanent | Room based leadership role

Ready for your next step in Early Years?

We’re looking for a brilliant Deputy Nursery Manager to join our team at The Treehouse Nature Nursery in Eastrington.

This isn’t a deputy role where you spend your days hidden away in an office.

You’ll be room based, working directly with our Tree Tots, supporting your team and helping to make sure the quality of care and education across the nursery is exactly where it should be.

We’re looking for someone who loves being with children but is also ready to take on more responsibility, support others and play a bigger part in how the nursery runs.

What being a Deputy at Treehouse looks like

You’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager and be someone the team can turn to for support, advice and direction.

You’ll help lead practice from within the room, rather than simply telling people what good practice should look like.

That might mean noticing when an activity could be better, helping a practitioner think differently about how they support a child, reassuring a parent, supporting a new member of staff or simply stepping in when the team needs you.

You’ll also support the manager with the day to day running of the setting and confidently step up in their absence.

What you’ll be doing

  • Working directly with children as a room based member of the team
  • Supporting the Nursery Manager with the day to day running of the nursery
  • Helping to lead and motivate the team
  • Modelling brilliant Early Years practice
  • Supporting staff to develop their confidence, knowledge and skills
  • Helping to maintain high standards across the nursery
  • Building strong relationships with children and families
  • Supporting children with additional needs and individual circumstances
  • Ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do
  • Supporting observations, planning and assessment where appropriate
  • Helping to create an environment where children are curious, confident and excited to learn
  • Stepping up to lead the setting when the Nursery Manager is absent

Who we’re looking for

You’ll need to hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification or above and have strong experience working within an Early Years setting.

You might already be a Deputy Manager, Room Leader or Third in Charge, or you may be an experienced practitioner who knows you’re ready for the next step.

More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Genuinely loves working with children
  • Leads by example
  • Notices the little things
  • Is confident enough to have difficult conversations when needed
  • Supports people rather than simply managing them
  • Is organised, reliable and calm under pressure
  • Understands what high quality Early Years practice looks like
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and the EYFS
  • Can build positive relationships with parents and professionals
  • Brings ideas rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Wants to keep learning and developing

✨ Why The Treehouse?

We’re an independent and growing group of nature nurseries, but we’re determined not to lose the personality and family feel that makes Treehouse special.

We want our nurseries to be places where children get to have a proper childhood.

Muddy clothes, big conversations, outdoor adventures, independence, curiosity and lots of opportunities to explore.

And we want the people who work here to enjoy being part of it too.

We’re currently taking part in the Hipeup Accreditation Programme, looking closely at our workplace culture and how we can continue making Treehouse somewhere people feel valued, heard and proud to work.

For someone with ambitions to progress further in Early Years leadership, this role also gives you the opportunity to develop your management experience within a growing nursery group.

Sound like you?

If you’re the person in your current nursery who naturally notices what needs doing, supports everyone else and wants the children to have the very best experience, we’d really like to hear from you.

Come and grow with us.

The Treehouse Nature Nurseries is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
