Job Overview
The Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for Deputies. The Deputy Sheriff plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order within the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a commitment to public safety, and the ability to handle various situations with professionalism and integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Enforce local & state laws while maintaining public safety.
• Conduct traffic stops, issue citations, and make arrests when necessary.
• Respond to emergency calls and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
• Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses or suspects.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies for surveillance and intelligence sharing.
• Manage conflict situations effectively to ensure community safety.
• Participate in community outreach programs to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the public.
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends & holidays.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
• Must be 21 years old
• Must possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Successful completion of police academy training or equivalent experience in law enforcement - MUST HOLD A CURRENT KLEC/POPS CERTIFICATION.
• Physical Agility Test
• Suitability Screener Test
• Complete Personal History
• Previous experience in law enforcement is preferred but not mandatory.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is required.
• Strong leadership abilities with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
• Proficient in conflict management techniques to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A background check will be conducted on all applicants, including but not limited to interviewing family, friends, neighbors and previous employers
• Candidates must allow access to social media history
• Knowledge of surveillance methods and practices
• Ability to operate in high-pressure environments while maintaining composure.

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
