We’re looking for a Senior Java Developer to work on applications in the digital payments space. Someone who cares about how software behaves under pressure, enjoys getting to the root of a complex issue and brings ideas to the table.

You’ll help build and maintain scalable, highly available applications, contribute to technical decisions and support less experienced developers along the way.

What will you do?

• Analyse, develop and maintain Java applications using sound engineering practices.
• Improve application performance, from concurrency to SQL query optimisation.
• Review code and help the team deliver reliable, maintainable software.
• Build security and compliance requirements into the solutions you develop.
• Work closely with functional, technical and testing teams.
• Investigate complex issues through advanced debugging and log analysis.
• Contribute to decisions on architecture, technologies, frameworks and tools.
• Share your knowledge and provide guidance to junior team members.

What are we looking for?

• Advanced knowledge of Java 8 or later .
• Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns .
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and relational databases .
• Experience developing and integrating XML and REST web services , ideally with exposure to EMS/JMS messaging .
• Knowledge of asynchronous systems .
• A university degree.
• An analytical mindset, attention to detail and a practical approach to solving problems.
• The autonomy to organise your work and the communication skills to move forward as a team.

We also value

• Knowledge of e-commerce or digital payment solutions .
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases .
• Proficiency with frameworks such as Spring .
• Knowledge of application security technologies and standards, including OAuth2, JWT, OpenID and JWS .
• Familiarity with Apache Pulsar .
