What We're Looking For

We are looking for design talent, values alignment, software proficiency, a collaborative and positive spirit, and a drive for excellence. You will bring confidence, competence and warmth when working with clients and consultant teams. You will also be committed to learning and to contributing to our work and culture. We are committed to sustainability and to rigorous, quiet design. Our primary structures are bio based, most often timber. Timber experience is preferred but not required.

What You ‘ll Do

  • Develop design concepts and carry them through to built work
  • Lead or support project teams through all phases
  • Work directly with clients, consultants and authorities
  • Mentor younger staff (senior level)
  • You will work closely with the principals and project teams on projects that put design quality, wood construction and climate responsibility first.

What You Bring

  • Intermediate: 5 to 7+ years of experience. Senior: 10+ years
  • Registered architect, or working toward registration (intermediate)
  • A portfolio that shows strong design thinking and built work
  • Working knowledge of building codes and construction detailing
  • Exceptional skill with Revit, Sketchup, Bluebeam, AI tools, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Clear communication and good judgement
  • Mass timber or sustainable design experience is an asset

Who We Are

At MGA, we're curious, creative people designing sustainable spaces that matter. From cultural installations and private homes to campuses and community hubs, our work pushes the limits of technology and construction to benefit people and the planet. We're known internationally for our leadership in mass timber and low-carbon design, with many high-profile national and international projects underway and several positions to fill. Along the way, we've collected awards including the 2026 Planet Positive Visionary Award, four Governor General medals, the 2024 Architizer Global Sustainable Firm Award, and Architizer named us the 2025 Best Global Sustainable Firm. But beyond the recognition, what drives us is simple: design has the power to shape how we live and the future we leave behind.

What We're Working On

Our projects are diverse, meaningful, and full of opportunities to stretch your thinking. A sample of our current projects include a Museum, a Federal museum research lab, Schools, Daycare, Firehall, a large tech company HQ in California, a helicopter terminal, an electric boat building company, a surf park, a restaurant, several not for profit projects focused on children, education and health, indigenous collaborations and projects, Ronald McDonald House, large housing development in the Netherlands, a large sports, library, pool, theatre, restaurant and art gallery project in Sweden and affordable housing.

Why You'll Love It Here

MGA is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a team that reflects the communities we design for. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences, and we actively work to create an environment where everyone can do their best work. We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including our one-of-a-kind Adventure Bonus, because we believe great work and great adventures go hand in hand. You'll join a tight-knit, collaborative, award-winning team. Your work will have real visibility, real impact, and real variety, across project types, communities, and scales that most studios never touch. This role is based in Vancouver, BC, and we're only considering candidates who can work with us in person.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000, Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
