Design Engineer

Job Purpose

The Design Engineer is responsible for preparing engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation for assigned projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff.

The role supports the design department in delivering accurate and timely engineering deliverables in compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and company procedures.

3. Scope of Role

The Design Engineer contributes to:

• Engineering design calculations
• Preparation of engineering drawings
• Technical documentation
• Design revisions based on client comments
• Support to production and project teams

4. Key Responsibilities

4.1 Engineering Calculations

• Perform engineering calculations as per design requirements.
• Prepare technical data sheets and engineering reports.
• Ensure calculations comply with applicable codes and standards.

4.2 Engineering Drawings

• Prepare engineering drawings including:

• General Arrangement drawings

• Fabrication drawings

• Detail drawings

• Coordinate with draftsmen to ensure accuracy of drawings.

4.3 Design Documentation

• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation.
• Ensure proper revision control of drawings and documents.
• Assist in preparation of design reports and submission packages.

4.4 Project Support

• Assist in resolving design issues during manufacturing and installation.
• Implement client comments and revise design documents accordingly.
• Support senior engineers in technical tasks.

4.5 Quality Compliance

• Follow company engineering procedures and quality standards.
• Ensure all design outputs comply with applicable engineering codes.

• Accurate preparation of engineering calculations and drawings.
• Timely completion of assigned design tasks.
• Compliance with engineering standards and procedures.
• Effective implementation of design revisions.

7. Authority & Decision Making

The Design Engineer may:

• Prepare engineering calculations and drawings.
• Suggest design improvements to senior engineers.

Final approvals must be obtained from the Senior Design Engineer or Design Manager.

8. Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

9. Experience

• 2 6 years of experience in engineering design.

Fresh engineering graduates may be hired as Trainee Design Engineers.
